I received this story via e-mail and thought you all should see it. It doesn't have a title, but I call it-
The Farmer and the Swallow
There once was an old farmer, who was sitting on a chair looking out his
window. It was a cold, stormy night outside. When suddenly a swallow
appeared and proceeded to run headlong into the window. It got up and
continued to try to getin thru the window. It was cold and slowly
freezing to death, and could feel the heat coming from inside. The farmer was
filled with compassion for this poor creature, and thought of an idea.
Hegot up,
dressed, and went outside to the barn. He opened up the door a bit so asto
allow the bird shelter from the cold. But, the swallow did not come. Instead
it continued to try to get thru the glass. The farmer tried opening the
door more to no avail. He then tried leading a trail of bread crumbs thru the
open door, hoping the ,now near dead, bird would follow it in. It did
not.
The farmers heart sank. He thought to himself "if only, even for a
moment, I could become one of them, then I could show them the way inside...to
life, rather than the death they now face".
Well, that farmer was alot like
God. Only by becoming one of us, through His Son Jesus, could He show us the
way to life, rather than the death we all faced.
