The Purpose of the House is to provide a meeting place where people can come to share ideas, to make new friends, to learn through Community Education courses, or form their own interest or support groups. It is open to ALL residents and visitors to the Hibiscus Coast. Costs at the House are kept at a minimal rate, so that what we offer is affordable to all. We do not offer individual counselling, but we have a range of support groups meeting regularly. If we cannot provide an answer to your immediate needs, we can put you in touch with someone who can. We network with CAB, the Community Health Centre, the Continuing Education Department at Orewa College, and many other caring groups within the Hibiscus Coast community. | |
How Does the House Function? It is run by a Management Committee, elected by the community at the Annual General Meeting. The Committee appoints Co-ordinators who are responsible for the day-to-day running of the House. The House now receives a little financial assistance , but generally grants are applied for annually as the need arises, with occasional donations from Service groups. All other finance is raised by our volunteers, mainly through our Opportunity Shop and Garage Sales, with occasional raffles and mini-fairs. |

Volunteers keep the House functioning - we currently have about thirty happy and enthusiastic helpers on our list. They help in the office, in the shop, at Garage Sales and with the on-going tasks of sorting, washing, ironing and pricing goods for the shop as well as selling. We have meetings two or three times a term and we're always please to welcome newcomers. |
Further information is available at the House. Call in and see the Co-ordinators, Sheila, Jill or Belinda who are in the office from 9.00am to 1.00pm each Primary School day. Volunteers are in the office from 1.00pm to 3.00pm
If you haven't been to see us yet, call in this week
