I married my present husband, David (the light of my life!) on Valentine's Day, 1993 at Loveland, CO. We moved to Northwest Arkansas in July 1993 about one week after my retirement from civil service. I worked for the government for 32 years and because the activity (Point Mugu, CA) where I worked was downsizing and also because of my age and length of service, I was able to take advantage of early retirement. I really thought I was not ready to retire (my husband had been retired about three years and was aching to leave sunny, crowded, expensive Southern California), but was I surprised. I love it! We found a home on Beaver Lake and enjoy sailing, golfing and other outside activities. Now how did we end up in Arkansas? My husband was born and raised in the Fort Smith area and graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. When he left in 1959, he didn’t think he would ever be back unless to visit family. In 1992, my best friend retired and found a beautiful place in Missouri. We came back for a visit and started looking around at the lakes in Missouri and Arkansas (only because my husband is a sailor and we needed to live near a lake!). We spent three weeks looking and talking about having to come back at another time when the last weekend of our trip we found the perfect home! And the rest is history.
I lost both my parents in 1997; my mother on 21 February and my dad on 9 December.

My favorite hobby is quilting. I started quilting in 1995 right after my son died. I started taking classes because I wanted to make him a memorial quilt. I just completed a baby quilt for my first granddaughter. After eight grandsons, we are looking forward to spoiling her. I also enjoy being on the computer, genealogy research, counted cross-stitch, needlepoint, reading, golfing, and sailing.
