An ahnentafel is a German word meaning table of ancesters. The first ahnentafel number belongs to you. Your number doubled is your father. His number PLUS one is your mother. Your father's number doubled is your grandfather, and so on. Male numbers are all even; female numbers are all odd.

My genealogy search began about five years ago when I learned from my Aunt Jane that we had a Revolutionary patriot in our family. I was lucky to find several cousins on-line who helped me connect many of the pieces.
