This and That
Wow, what a busy time it has been.  So much has been happening since Christmas that I don't even know where to start.  Let me just start this entry by saying this past weekend has given me new appreciation for my kids.  I love these little people more than I could have ever imagined possible.  I am frequently concerned about how my kids behave.  Are they kind enough?  Too disrespectful?  Just being kids?  Things like that.  But let me tell you....I have the most wonderful kids ever!!
Now, why would I just say all of this out of the blue?  Well, because I just spent the last weekend with my step brother's kids.  I hate to be mean, but they are brats.  The oldest is 2 months older than Matthew and he is MEAN.  I feel so bad, whenever they are together Matthew always ends up getting hurt.  And this kid will just look at you like you are stupid and he doesn't have to tell you anything or listen to you because you aren't his mom.  Well, we have been working so hard with Matthew, getting him to not hit, and here comes Jonathan.  *sigh*  Not only did he constantly hit Matthew but he squeezed his head and hurt Matthew's ears pretty badly.  Did he get in any trouble?  Nope, not a bit.  Anyway, I was so very proud of Matthew, he never hurt him back in any way.  He would just say ," It isn't nice to be mean to me, I don't like it"  So now Matt thinks Matthew is being a cry baby for saying that.  I refuse to have a bully though.  Violence never solved anything!

Anyway, I decided my kids ARE respectful, and they ARE kind enough!  And the things they do are just kids being kids!  I love them to pieces!
Aimee and Joey also came for the week.  It was nice seeing them again.  Aimee even admitted that my kids are pretty good compared to others! ;)  She was taken by Collin a wee bit.  And Joey was taken by Dillon.  Ever since Dill was a baby, Uncle Joey has been quite fond of him.  And Matthew adores them.  Too bad they are so far away.

Aimee had a hard time dealing with all the noise of 5 little boys, but who would expect any less of her?  She really doesn't enjoy kids in general, so considering that, she did quite well.  She still isn't anywhere near ready to have kids.  But I think Joey would be thrilled with a little person to play with.   Time will tell I suppose!

Oh, I almost forgot, while they were here we went ice skating.  The boys had a BLAST.  And they both want to take lessons.  By the end of 45 minutes they were both able to go without help.  It was so cute.  Unfortunately, I forgot my digital camera, but Aimee too regular pics.  If she posts them on the net I will put them up here too.  It was fun to watch!
I decided to actually make some resolutions this year.  I don't usually because I always seem to break them, but this year at least if I write them down it will be fresh in my mind.
1) to practice attachment parenting with Collin, the only real change will be to not prematuraly wean him like I did Matthew and Dillon.  Also, along these lines, I will stand firm to my beliefs.  When someone questions why he is still sleeping with us or breastfeeding I will not let it ruffle my
feathers.  He is our baby and only we can decide what is best for him.

2) to feed my family more nutritiously.

3) to not obsess about my body.  I need to concentrate on what is inside my body.  I will not let this weight drag me down.  When it is time for Collin to wean I can then focus on losing weight.  For now, it isn't important.

4) be less critical

5)  improve my spiritual life

I worry it is too much, and I will let myself down.  I hope not.  I am so tired of the resolutions being, "I will lose this much weight"  What a boring way to live life.  I hope to enjoy it to the fullest this year.

And lastly tonight, mom is getting ready to head to California again.  My grandma fell and broke her hip on Friday night.  So, if you pray, could you send one up asking for speedy recovery for her.  She is already home and doing well.  It is her husband who seems to be the problem right now.  He is 93 and is getting nasty.  He has been telling her to "shut up, the physical therapist doesn't know how you should walk, I do, listen to me"  it is exhausting to all involved.  Anyway, thanks for the prayers.

Happy new year to all!!
