Old Man Winter  February 5, 2002
Ick Ick Ick.  Seems like our winter is just beginning here. This winter has been going along so nicely and then BOOM, the cold hit.  Yesterday the wind chill was 2 degrees.  I suppose it could be worse.  We could get all this snow and ice the rest of the country has gotten.  It snowed a little bit with this system, but nothing measurable.  It is still around because it is sooo cold.  I am not a fan of winter.  And the old ground hog says six more weeks.  I hope he is wrong this year.

My mom got home on Sunday.  She is exhausted from all the stress of the last month.  Grandma had many problems the last two days before mom left.  She was in the ER twice in as many nights.  She has pluracy but the drs thought it was pneumonia so put her on antibiotics.  She had a bad reaction to the antibiotics and it made her feel like she was having a gall bladder attack.  So she was throwing up all night.  Poor thing.  I feel just awful for her.  But mom called Oli's kids and told them they needed to come get him until grandma got well.  Thankfully they did and my aunt is there with just grandma now, hopefully she can get well finally.

My kids are all well from their colds.  Except Matthew is having a funky thing going on with his eye.  My dad perscribed some ointment for him, and I can already see and improvement.

Tonight was their second ice skating night.  Dillon just sat on the bench the whole time until open skate, then he skated with Matt.  I hope he gets over this fear.  Matthew did great.  He learned how to skate and squat and touch his toes while he was going.  Then he learned to hop while he was skating.  It was cool and he loves it.

As for me, life is pretty boring.  Matt gets up, goes to school, I take care of the kids, he goes to work.  Same ole same ole.  I talked to the homeschool mom again tonight.  I really like her and am going to call her this week.  I so desperately need a friend.  Mom and Dave found out they COULD be moving to Idaho as soon as April of this year.  I would be so sad.  It isn't my place to go into it here, so I won't.  I just hope it doesn't happen.  We have never been so far away from all our family.  And I always thought at least Dave and Michele would be here, but Dave has headhunters looking in Idaho for a job for him and he wants to be in a new job by April.  So it is very possible that shortly it will just be my clan here in Ohio.  Which I am sure I could manage just fine...if I had a friend.  I told mom yesterday that I would be fine if I could find a friend like Michelle. :-(  Somehow, I don't think I will though.  That friendship is special.
I look at those pictures and I feel so blessed.  My kids love each other so much.  In the top picture the big boys were giving Collin their stuffed animals to play with, and Matthew even gave him his beloved Tiger.  Then I was laying on the bed with Collin feeding him, and the boys kept bopping in to love on him.  Matthew and Collin have a very special bond for some reason.  Matthew can be somewhere and Collin will hear him and he is searching for him.  I wouldn't be at all surprised if Matthew is his first word.  Matthew told me the other day that we were going to have lots of children, and there would be children on the table and on the couch and everywhere.  Then he asked me when the new baby would be here!  I told him not for a few years, and he said, "no, now"  I hope he doesn't know something I don't!!

I am off to bed now.  Matt went with some friends to Karaoke, so I am gonna hit the hay early.  Night night.
