40 hits.
The Elvis commemorative stamp was released by the U.S.
Postal Service
in January 1993. A year earlier the public had been surveyed
to see which
Elvis image they preferred - rockabilly or Vegas (young
or old). Young
Elvis won and went on to become the best-selling stamp
in postal history;
500.000 were printed, twice that of any other commemorative
issue.
Currently there are 480 active Elvis fan clubs around the
world. No other
celebrity comes close.
Elvis's estate earned more money the year after Elvis'
death than any while
he was alive. And RCA sold an astonishing 200 million
Elvis
records the
year after he died, and in the first three years his
death he earned more
money than he did in his entire career.
