A monthly selection of inspirational readings.
I missed Him when the sun began to bend;
I found Him not when I had lost His rim;
With many tears I went in search of Him,
Climbing high mountains which did still ascend,
And gave me echos when I called my friend;
Through cities vast and charnel-houses grim,
And high catherdrals where the light was dim,
Through books and arts and works without an end,
But found Him not - the friend whom I had lost.
And yet I found Him - as I found the lark,
A sound in the fields I heard but could not mark;

I found Him in my heart, a life in frost,
A light I knew not till my soul was dark.

He comes to us as one unknown,
without a name,
as of old by the lakeside He came to those men who knew him not.

He speaks to us the same Word,
"Follow thou me,"
and sets us to the tasks
which He has to fulfill for our time.

He commands.
And to those who obey,
whether they be wise or simple,
He will reveal Himself in the toils, the conflicts,
the suffering which they shall pass through in His fellowship,
and as an ineffable mystery,
they shall learn in their own experience
who He is.
