Making a short story shorter...
The timing of this one caught us by surprise!  By Thursday the 2nd, John was about nine days late, so we were scheduled to go in and be induced on Saturday; both of the other kids had to be induced, so it was what we were used to.

I guess John had other plans, because on Thursday evening I started feeling rotten and grouchy and treating Mike very badly (sorry, sweetie!).  After about two hours, Mike timed some contractions and called the doctor.  She told us to head into the hospital.  Mike's sister, our Plan A babysitter for Saturday (and the one other person besides us who knows how to give Libby her bedtime injection)  had just "happened" to drop by a little bit earlier, so we sent Libby and Colin off with her for a sleepover.  Bless you, Cheryl!

When we got to the hospital (about five minutes away), they hooked me up to some monitors at 8:12 p.m. and John Stratton showed up at 9:14 p.m.!  (It was a very eventful 62 minutes...)

I'm so glad Mike was convinced I was in labor, because if we had stayed home for too much longer we could have ended up delivering John at home or in the car!  Yikes!

John is a very sweet baby with a round little head like Colin and long fingers like Libby.  The nurses all told us that he was exceptionally handsome and alert (but we already knew that...).

The kids are crazy about him and want to hold him most of the time.  Colin keeps telling me, "He's berry sweet, Mom".  Libby loves to help take care of him but doesn't want to change his diapers.

We're so grateful for this litle guy and for his safe arrival!
