They Cropped my Ears!

Yes, my parents did it!  They got my ears cropped.

First Hours After Surgery	Still Groggy from the anesthesia	He looked sooo sad	Ears are glued to the foam

He's starting to wake up	getting his bearings	and reached for a toy	but wasn't ready yet

Day 2, he still looked sad, but seemed fine.	He played, and ate, and was almost back to his "old" self	But he milked the attention and sympathy

He finally got the block off, and his ears were taped.  (you can see the bald spot from the foam)		He doesn't mind the tape, probably       because he keeps taking it off!

About his Ears

We knew that in order to get the Majestic look of a Great Dane we would have to have his ears cropped.  Neither of us had ever had a dog who's ears were cropped, so we didn't know what to expect.  The end result is great; he does look wonderful, but I don't think it's something we would do again.  The guilt we felt when he first came home was overwhelming, although he really didn't appear to be in any pain or discomfort at all.  He and his sister got used to their Foam Blocks quickly, and we joked that they were sending telepathic messages to each other, since they weren't allowed to play together for several weeks.  Throughout the healing process, Otto definitely played the sympathy factor, and got extra special attention, treats, and care.
