Carving out their pumpkins, Saying "trick or treat" They're getting tons of candy from everyone they meet. What happened to the humans, Where have they all gone? Why, we're in the pet stores Back where we belong. We're running in our squeaky wheels We're eating dried out food. Hamsters treating us like animals Why would they be so rude. A child learns by watching, They watch us like a hawk. But now they're in control All they can do is mock. I've found that it would not be great And now we're in a rut Next time someone asks me this I'm keepin' my mouth shut. WHO'S MORE ASTUTE? or Me Vs. At night he's a child wide eyed and wild Why child, not parent? Who is more observant? Phaėthon Returns A continuation of Phaėthon, the son of Apollo, who doesn't heed his fathers warning and drives the chariot too close to the sun. Phaėthon lay there dead as a door nail and just then Zeus and Apollo noticed hamsters running around him. The Hamsters stopped and they all formed an ellipse around him, then bowed down to him and chanted their little soft squeaks. Suddenly Phaėthon started rising and he rose higher and higher until he was out of sight. The Hamsters stopped chanting and they all formed a line. Then they started walking and sniffing the ground at the same time. They did this for about three minutes, and just then their ears perked up and their eyes opened wide and they stopped. The sky got dark and all the Hamsters started jumping very high. Some of the Hamsters even reached twenty or more inches off the ground. Then there was a monstrous storm. The storm had thunder and lightning and the whole bit. Zeus and Apollo heard a scream and saw Phaėthon falling from the sky. Phaėthon landed with a thud and he lay there stiff with bruises and scratches but he was okay. His hair was standing on end and his clothes were a bit charred but there was nothing seriously wrong with him. Zeus and Apollo were in awe and then Apollo said "That's my boy". Zeus and Apollo had a joyous day celebrating his reincarnation. At the end of the day Apollo was feeling bad about how Phaėthon still hadn't been granted his one and only wish so instead of giving him the sun Apollo gave him a star. Phaėthon wasn't satisfied. He wanted to drive the sun chariot but instead he got a stupid star about the size of a rock. Phaėthon threw it into the air because it was worthless. A few days later Apollo asks Phaėthon about the star and Phaėthon said he had thrown it in the sky. Apollo stood open mouthed for a few seconds until he yelled out "WHAT!" He told Phaėthon that it was a growing star and they went outside. Sure enough it was twice as big as it was when he threw it up there. At the end of the week it was five-hundred feet wide. Within two weeks it was a quarter the size of our earth and Phaėthon was really regretting what he had done. He had to somehow fix what he had done. Phaėthon journeyed to mount Olympus and spoke with Zeus and asked Zeus to forgive him for being so ungrateful. He asked Zeus to make it stop growing before it got so big that it crushed the Earth. Zeus saw that Phaėthon was truly sorry for overlooking a small package and the star stopped growing and it started shrinking. It shrank until it had disappeared which was two weeks later. Two weeks after the star disappeared it was back again and it was full size. Then it started shrinking again. This star we call the moon has been shrinking and growing ever since to be reminder not to overlook small packages. For all good things come in small packages. Wouldn't It Be Great If... ...Hamsters and Humans Switched Places At the store, in the streets, And driving in their cars.
Hamsters going everywhere, They are both near and far.
Carving out their pumpkins, Saying "trick or treat"
They're getting tons of candy from everyone they meet.
I've found that it would not be great And now we're in a rut
Next time someone asks me this I'm keepin' my mouth shut.
WHO'S MORE ASTUTE? or Me Vs. My Hamster
Such calmness, such peace, such innermost ease.
A figure quite short but a mind that is not.
Perceptive are we, but more so than he?
He lives to percept; who is more inept?
At night he's a child wide eyed and wild
Why child, not parent? Who is more observant?
