The
Derrough
Family

This section is devoted to information & photographs regarding my Derrough lineage. I do not have all that much, but I wanted to share what I do have with others. Hopefully, new information will come about for me & those that visit here seeking information.

The furthest I have been able to trace this branch of my family is to James Sullivan Derrough. He was born on August 28, 1847 & died December 9, 1915 according to his tombstone in Woodlawn Cemetery in DeRidder, Louisiana.

He is found on the 1900 Louisiana Census as James S. Derrough, age 52, his birthplace listed as Alabama. His wife was Martha J. (Whitman), age 40, born in June 1860 in Louisiana. They were the parents of 11 children, 9 still living, 2 of which were listed as still in school.

James was listed as a farmer, owning farm #198 in Walnut Hill, Vernon Parish, Louisiana. His land grant was issued on May 20, 1896 according to that document. This also lists his birthplace as Alabama.

However, I have been unable to link my James with any of the various-spelled Derroughs in Alabama around the time of his birth.
