I am a former County Chairperson for a Regional Title IX Indian Education Program. Plannning activities and finding resources drove me nuts because of the lack of information and ideas available in our small group.
My husband suggested starting the list as a way to exchange information with other educators and Title IX Indian Ed. Programs. Information could be arts and crafts projects, different nation's cultures and/or beliefs, or anything else one of us may need help with.
So, I started this list to provide a national forum for the exchange of information and resources pertaining to Native American Education especially the Title IX Indian Education Program/Project. Title IX Programs are formed at the local level with information and resources limited to what the Parent Committee and Coordinator/Facilitator bring to them. This list has been formed in an attempt to share information on a National level. Someone in the Southeast may have a question about something in the Northwest or vice-versa.
This list is an open list: anyone may join.
My hope is that not only Title IX members and staff but also educators that are interested in teaching about Native Americans or verifying the information that they already teach, will join. And of course since Title IX is for the kids I want kids to be able to join this list with no fear of language content etc.
There will be list members that know some things, a lot of things or nothing. But the idea is to share, to question and to answer. There may be times when we don't have answers. There are ideas to be shared.
Please join and share what you know or would like to know. Below is the webpage for registration and another for the digests of what we have already had to say. If you have any questions feel free to email me.
