What, though my joys and comforts flee: the Lord, my Savior, liveth.
What, though the darkness gather round: songs in the night He giveth.
No storm can shake my inmost calm, while to that Refuge clinging.
Love is Lord of heaven and earth--how can I keep from singing?
I lift my eyes; the cloud grows dim; I see the blue above it.
And every day my pathway smooths, since first I learned to love it.
The peace of God makes fresh my soul; a fountain ever springing.
Jesus is Lord of heaven and earth--how can I keep from singing?
This old Appalachian folk song touched my heart so much when I first heard it that I decided to make it my "life song". I have sung it many times through the years; sometimes for friends and family and sometimes just for myself. I hope that its words here will be a blessing to you.
