JAPANESE WHO BECAME FRIENDS
Let us hope that in the above photo, shot with Richard Nixon at San Francisco, "Frank" Watanabe had left his wallet in the hotel safe, or had at least nothing worth stealing in his pockets, True that Nixon had once openly stated that he was not a crook, but, Ol' Tricky, who'd believe him? Only a person who did not know that J. Edgar Hoover wore dresses would ever be that naive.

A Contradiction in Terms - For how can the garden be private and yet public at the same time. Not unusual in Tokyo. The garden belongs to a restaurant and is one of the stops for the patrons once they are through their meal. I visited this and, at least another garden, with dr. Kenshin Imada, the man who, in many ways, is responsible for the introduction of American dental journals to Japan. In this particular occasion, Dr. Imada showed me the peacefulness brought to the environment through the simple flow of water. That the day was overcast only added to the garden' s appeal.
