Who we are.
|
"Hands that Help", a
missionary outreach program operating under the guidance of our Catholic Priest, Father
John Marsh. |
What we do.
|
Reaching out to the poor and most
abandoned. |
How we receive donations.
|
Designated offerings.
Free will donations from individuals.
Donations from collections of food at the local German schools.
Donations of dry food, baby food and can goods from German organizations. |
How we deliver the donations.
|
Teams of volunteers donate their time,
money and personal vehicles to transport the donations to orphanages and shelters in
Germany, Hungary, Italy and Romania. |
Our first priority is helping our own. We offer support to anyone
in the local area who needs a helping hand. We are supporting several orphanages, in
addition to local charities, such as, the Caritas House. We support the local
Auslanders here in Germany who are seeking asylum and are forbidden to work on the local
economy until they receive permanent residence and a work permit. "Hands that
Help" with your support has made a tremendous difference in the lives of all the
children and families that we have supported. Two of the orphanages are in Romania,
two in Hungary and one in Naples, Italy. There are currently 100 children in the two
orphanages in Romania, one in Bistrita (where the toddlers live) and the second one in
Dornesti.
The Romanian government's most recent statistics are 200,000 abandoned or orphaned
children who live in the streets and sewers. On a good night, they may get to sleep in a
jail or a train station. If we can make a difference in one child's life, we have
done the Lord's work. The Lord will bless us all. Sometimes we forget that these
figures are children and not just statistics. Yes, children who need a home, food
and love, just like our own children. The Romanian government does not have the
resources to provide for these children. No one loves them, no one cares for them,
but we do! "Hands that Help" and your donations will make a difference.
Once you have made the trip to the orphanages, you will transform into a different
person.
From the humble beginnings in October 1994, "Hands that Help" has made more than
35 trips to Romania. Over seventy tons of donations have been delivered. With
your support and prayers, we can continue our missionary work. We thank all of you
from the bottom of our hearts. Please continue to support our missionary efforts
with your donations. We do not know why you have been called upon to support the
children, but we thank you and the children thank you. The children and volunteer
staff from the Romanian orphanages send their heart felt thanks and God's blessings to all
of you.
"Hands that Help" has been supporting the Romanian orphanages since October
1994. The orphanages are operated by "Walk in the Light Ministries", under
the direction of Ilie Coroama, who had escaped the communist rule of Nicolae Ceausescu in
1974. He founded "Walk in the Light Ministries" in the USA and returned to
Romania after the overthrow of Ceasescu in 1989. He began building the orphanages on
faith and prayers with donated funds and materials from friends and supporters just like
you, in America and Germany.
We have been led by God to support two more orphanages in Hungary, one of them offers
shelter to senior citizens, most of them have no other place to live. We have
delivered food, clothing and blankets to feed and comfort these folks and make their lives
a little more comfortable during their final years on this earth. The second
orphanage is home to 120 children, all of them handicapped, both physically and mentally.
We have delivered boxes of food, bags of clothing, truck loads of mattress and
blankets, sheets and covers. This facility operates under the direction of Doctor
Miklos, who was exiled from Russia and sent to this orphanage as punishment for refusing
to denounce his Christian belief in the Lord. He has related to us through an
interpreter that this is not punishment for him. It is a blessing from the Lord that
he is able to help these children, who would have been abandoned, forgotten and left to
die. He, along with a trained staff of registered nurses and aids attend to the
children's every need twenty four hours a day.
The missionary outreach program we support in Italy is under the guidance of the
Missionary Servants of Merciful Jesus. This order functions under the guidance of
Sister Agnes. Sister Agnes obtained special permission from Mother Teresa to leave
her order and began to help the families in need in the poorest sections of Italy.
We have delivered truck loads of dry food, pasta, canned goods and clothing, shoes and
bedding. |
