Spring 2000 at the farm. It was an enjoyable Saturday and Sunday in mid-April.
Stop by for a spell and have a seat on the porch! This is the entrance to the farm. I just mowed the yard and pulled Ernie's JD B out of the barn with the mighty JD STX 38 if you can believe that. This picture was taken about 6:00 P.M. Saturday evening.
Oh my! The farm has developed the green plague! That is my 1990 JD STX 38 tractor mower and Ernie Swoveland's 1952 John Deere B model. It appears it has taken residence amongst my Farmalls in the barn. Wonder if I will have orange AC offsprings???????
The Farmall H brigade in the barn. The one on the right is the 1941 "Grandpa's H". The one at the left is the 1945 "Indy H" and the one in the background is the 1946 "Old Red H".
The farm landmark is coming down since I need to work on the windmill and the well is rusted out. I will place it near the building complex. I donated the tower to the Randolph County Antique Club. The windmill is being strapped before we cut the legs of the tower.
We carefully lowered the windmill without incident. We only partially cut the legs so the windmill would pivot straight down.
The windmill is now laying on Slo Mo's "tiny" trailer. We drove down to the crib and removed the windmill assembly. It was HEAVY!
We then repositioned the tower on Slo Mo's trailer for the journey to Winchester using the boom truck. The tower with an Arrow windmill will be on display at the Randolph County Antique Club's grounds adjacent to the Winchester, Indiana Fairgrounds this summer. It will be hooked up to a newly drilled well. That is Slo Mo (Jeff Kinney) strapping down the windmill in the foreground.
The windmill tower was repaired, painted and raised early July at the Randolph County Antique Club grounds in Winchester, Indiana. A rebuilt Aeromotor windmill assembly was placed on top.
