This is Dan when he graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center "Boot Camp", Cape May, New Jersey. He graduated in September 1989. He went to the USCGC Anacapa out of boot camp. He became part of the commissioning crew. He was sent to Louisiana to prepare the ship for commissioning and was able to bring the boat around the Panama Canal and North to Alaska in late 1989. What an incredible way to start his Coast Guard career!
U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Anacapa
The Anacapa is a 110 foot Patrol Boat. It is primarily used for Search and Rescue and Maritime Law Enforcement. Dan was a member of the commissioning crew and was stationed on her 1989-1991, Petersburg, Alaska.

U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Long Island
The Long Island is also a 110 foot Patrol Boat. Her homeport is Monterey, California. Monterey is a beautiful place and was our favorite "home". Dan was aboard her from 1995-1997.
U.S. Coast Guard Station Bodega Bay, California
Station Bodega Bay is located about a 80 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. They have two 44 foot Motor Life Boats and a 21 foot Rigid Hull Inflatable (RHI). They also are primarily involved in local Search & Rescue and Maritime Law Enforcement. They respond to about 150 cases per year in the Bodega Bay area. Dan was stationed there from 1997-1998.
U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Point Batan
The Point Batan is an 82 foot Patrol Boat. They perform Search & Rescue and Maritime Law Enforcement missions. There is a 10 man crew aboard the Point Batan. Dan is the Executive Petty Officer aboard, he is a Boatswains Mate First Class. The Officer In Charge of the ship is a Senior Chief. The ship is homeported in Cape May, New Jersey, home of the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center. We arrived here in 1998 and will be here until 2000.
