This horse-drawn hearse on a sleigh was owned by one of Manton's early undertakers, Abram Woodward. It was manufactured by James Cunningham Son and Company of Rochester, New York, and used from it's purchase in 1890 up until about 1930. It is believed to have cost Mr. Woodward about $650. The "Black Maria" is the centerpiece of the Manton Museum and elicits many comments from our visitors. |
