Miracle Maddee

On October 9, 1998, Maddee was shot with an arrow by a sorry excuse for a human being.

Thanks to the wonderful care provided by her veterinarian and the University of Illinois Veterinary Medicine Hospital doctors, students and staff, Maddee is alive and well.

The following are pictures of her recovery.

The arrow went in high on the right and exited low on the left. It missed all the vital organs including her heart, lungs and spine. She is a very lucky girl. This picture was taken Monday morning.

After the surgery, Maddee had a red bandage around each of her legs. They held the catheters in place. The catheters were there in case she needed a blood transfusion. She also had chest tubes in so her chest cavity could drain.

Her incisions were closed with metal staples. She looked a lot like FrankenDoggy.

Nice cow spots, huh?
