Brief biography of Arius
Based in Fremont, Ohio, Arius was first conceived as
Eviscerate in 1992 with
founding members Matt Moyer (rhythm guitar) , Shane McConnell
(Drums),
Damon Conn (lead guitar), and Lukas Kummer (bass). Lukas was quickly
recruited for the position of lead vocalist due to his powerful
voice. The
band lost lead guitarist Damon Conn in 1993 due to his graduation
from
college. The band played on as a three-piece outfit for approximately
one year
before they picked up ex-Ahriman guitarist Bryan Autullo. With this
development Matt shifted his focus to lead guitar and Bryan filled up
the
rhythm guitar slot. From this moment on, Arius has roared ahead. A
demo was
recorded in the spring of 1995, entitled "The Last Suffer".
It started to
deviate from the band's previous course as a gore/death type band and
the
band subsequently changed its name to Arius, to reflect the more
philosophical nature of the lyrics. Soon after its release the demo
was
picked up by Relapse Records for distribution. Bryan was forced to
leave
the band in early 1996. The band however forges on to new musical
brutality
and destruction. Arius is in the process of writing new songs for a
forthcoming CD and is playing often in the Cleveland/Toledo/Bowling
Green
area. Also on the adgenda are more shows booked with Sandy (Metal
Mom) Newton,
having already graced the Michigan Deathfest 4 and the First
International
Deathfest with their precence. Stay tuned!
