Now, how do you think the hardy pioneer,
without a stick in sight.
Could cook his dinner, over a blazing fire,
in the early twilight.
You guessed it!
Much to the fastidious ones dismay.
A fuel supply was conveniently left,
by buffalo herds, along the way.
To the uninitiated; the gathering of chips
is really a profession.
Experience is a great teacher.
And most lose their amateur stranding,
after a few smelly lessons.
Now during the great depression,
round about the of 34.
The lowly chip was once again used.
Just as it was---years and years before.
A neighbor's wealth or affluence,
could be determined by the size of that backyard pile.
And it didn't cost one red cent.
Just laying out there for the taking all the while.
The chip burns; for those of you who don't know.
With a quick, hot, odorless flame.
And a whole lot of ash to show.
Now if it was all right for the pioneers.
And us depression people too.
Why not get back to it,
instead of looking for something new.
Our country's energy & fuel problems,
could be settled in a flash.
And employment for many---
Converting chips into ready cash.
