Clouse Family
Generation 1
Phettiplace Clouse was born 1593 in Germany.  He came to Jamestown, Virginia in 1608 at age 15.  He sailed upon the English ship Starr, from London.  He worked as an indentured servant for his passage to the first English Colony n America.  He was later issued a land grant by Sir George Yeardley for 100 acres on the east bank of the Warwicksqueake River.

John Dillard Clouse was born 1775 in Washington Co., Virginia, and died Nov. 20, 1859 in Cedar Creek, White Co., Tennessee.  He married Martha abt. 1800 in Washington Co., Tennessee.  She was born abt. 1780 and died after 1850 in White Co., Tennessee.

Thomas Jefferson Clouse was born Jan. 8, 1801 in Washington Co., Tennessee, and died July 18, 1872 in White Co., Tennessee.  He married (1) Euthannah(or Uphannah) Isom Long, (2) Susan C. Julian (3) Margaret Eller Sept. 24, 1861.  She was the daughter of Henry Eller and Dosha.  She was born Nov. 28, 1830, and died June 13, 1917 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Thomas was struck by a falling tree while clearing land.  It crushed his chest.  It caused him to get pneumonia, and he died a couple of weeks later.

William, Frances, Thomas, and Elijah were in the Union Army.  William and Elijah served in Co. K, 1st Tennessee Mounted Infantry; Frances was in Co. B.; I don't know whic h group Thomas was in.

Eli Sylvester Clouse was born July 18, 1864 in Cookeville, White Co., Tennessee, and died June 5, 1944 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  He married (1)Mary Lucretia Cox, (2) Ocie Elois Brooks on June 14, 1892.  She was the daughter of Marion Brooks and Nannie Bell.  She was born Feb. 19, 1872 in Greenville, Tennessee,  and died Apr. 14, 1897.

1.  Nannie Lois Clouse, b. Apr. 5, 1893 near Fayetteville, AR; d. Sept. 24, 1986, AR; m. Edmund Ellison Dees on Jan. 23, 1913; He was born Mar. 12, 1896, Dublin, TX, and died Mar. 29, 1958, AR.  Edmund was a farmer, merchant, and the PostMaster of Healing Springs, Arkansas.
