"No warmth between us" I look at you across the table You look at me Your eyes have grown old Mine have grown cold There is no warmth between us You exist So do I We acknowledge one another and watch the turkey growing cold You smile at me across the table I smile at you Your eyes flicker awhile Mine can not smile There is no warmth between us You can try So do I Yet all we do is glimpse each other and watch the turkey growing cold You wink at me across the table I wink at you Your eyes are bright now Mine lack-lustre There is no warmth between us You drink ale So do I It numbs us each other We watch the turkey growing cold |
"Perfect" Her laughter was a joyous echo of the happiness inside her It streamed forth from her mouth in effervescent bubbles He longed to catch them in his hands to hold them gently so they might not burst and blow them with the slightest breath watch them float Her eyes were shimmering lights glowing in the semi-darkness They sent forth from her face slivers of the morning sun He yearned to touch them stroke the slivers with his finger so he might feel their warmth curl them round his finger watch them play Her lips were perfect wine red buds; they must have tasted sweet Her tongue came forth to lick them all the way around He hungered for their taste their lushness ached to savour their sensations on his tongue to trace their contours with his lips |
