The Alness & District Times was borne out of a year
of planning meetings in 1989. The sole aim of the project is to provide
a medium for the exchange of local news and information within Alness
and the immediate area and to promote a sense of identity in the town. Comprising of 20-24 A4 pages, our regular sections include
Local News, Community Council Minutes, Letters, Alness Archives, Musings
from the Manse and Donnie’s View from Fyrish, a column that regularly
gets us in hot water with the great and the good in Alness! Some of our volunteers have given talks on setting up community
publications at seminars etc so we know we’ve got a quality product. The ADT uses the best in Desk Top Publishing software; Adobe Pagemaker. We also use Adobe Photoshop, the industry standard in graphics software. This gives is the opportunity to provide a service to local groups and businesses; producing posters, brochures, price lists, event programmes, sponsor forms and the like. To
the people of Alness we always stress that this is your newspaper, your
voice in the community. Not Rupert Murdoch’s - YOURS |
