Blackmarket Baby is in search of birthmother or any birthfamily

Do you know me? Please read my story and look at the pictures on the left.

I am a blackmarket adoptee and I have spent the past 16 years in search of information that could lead me to the answers for questions that are burning deep inside of me. Although I have been able to gather volumes of information, very few facts are known today.

I lived with my adoptive family from the time I was just a few days old, and grew up knowing I was adopted and my family loved me very much. As I got older, questions began to take over my thoughts and as the years passed. the questions began to burn a bit hotter. Every once in a while I would find out a little tidbit of information, but my mother and dad didn't seem to have the answers I needed. That is when my search really began.

My adoption is a rather complicated one. It was arranged by Dr. Mary Townsend Glassen in Phillipsburg, Kansas and I have a Kansas birth certificate. It states I was born on February 1, 1950 in her office in Phillipsburg.

When I was about 32 years old I found out that was not true. My mother told me I was not born in Phillipsburg, Kansas. I was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. Atleast that is what they were told and that is where they went to pick me up. It was at that point I realized my adoptive parents were listed as my birth parents on my original birth certificate. I continued asking questions and found out they were questions my folks could not answer. All they could tell me was Dr. Mary had told them to go to Bryan MEmorial Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska and ask for a certain doctor. They were to give him the money and he would give them their baby.

In 1958 we were living in Oregon and someone approached my dad trying to blackmail him over the details of how they got me. At that point my adoption was completed in a court. Something Dr. Mary had told them they would not need to do because of the way she had made out the birth certificate.

As my search has intensified, I have been fortunate enough to talk with two other people who have been affected by Dr. Mary's adoptions. One was an adoptee and the other is an adoptees sister. I have talked to many people that knew of Dr. Mary and some have even told me of others they knew of that she had placed. The babies were placed in many different states including; Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Missouri, Colorado, South Dakota, North Dakota and even California. I know there were doctors in Nebraska that were involved in this black market ring and suspect that allof the other states I have already mentioned had atleast one doctor she could contact for placement of the babies.

If you, or someone you know, can give me more information that could help me or any other adoptees affected by these black market adoptions, I would certainly like to hear from you.
