Very Early Edition - December 25, 2004 - Volume 12, Issue 1 (Our twelfth year)
We hope and pray that you all have a blessed Christmas. We will be hosting the Omaha Christmas festivities at our house this year, as we will be spending the holidays at home this year -- just like the Nebraska football team.
Last year we traveled to Minneapolis for a "New Years Day" wedding -- a nice way to start the year. In March, we drove to St. Louis to attend the MVC basketball tournament. Alas, Creighton lost their first game but we still had fun.
During the summer, we traveled to the Amana colonies in Iowa for a weekend. We are
pictured in front of our B&B. In the autumn, we took a weekend trip back to visit relatives and friends in Bismarck and spent a fun-filled week in Branson, MO. Terry Burdett continues to work part time at Trinity Church. From April 12-23, she went on a mission trip to Guatemala. While there, she worked at the Children of Promise orphanage, the Home of Life and Nutrition, and in the villages surrounding San Andreas. She is pictured with some of the people that she helped.Burdett Bugle

In fact, this year she crocheted something like forty scarves. Some of the scarves were sold, with the proceeds going to

Bob Burdett continues to be one of the "unemployed retired." As such, he has become the household's Chief Cook and Bottle Washer. He is
pictured with a batch of tasty Santa Claus cookies that he whipped up. The cookies (recipe, mold and trimmings) are a family tradition that Bob's sister resurrected when she found the cookie molds on the Internet. Thanks Marianne!Burdett Bugle

Bob still plays tennis and goes to the YMCA to bulk up. During the past year he has also taught a little tennis (e.g., to Terry, Jayden, kids at the
Hope Center).Bob has also completed three more units (thirty weeks) of The Denver Catholic Biblical School Program (Dt, Gn, Jos, Jgs, 1&2 Sm, 1&2 Kgs, Mk, Lk and Acts). The 5th (of 12) units has just begun (Paul's letters).
People In The News
It was nice to have all of the kids home for the Fourth of July. Vanessa (left), Matt and Lisa are pictured with some kind of fireworks.
Lisa Watts
moved to a larger (3 BR) apartment in Omaha recently. Now the grandkids each have their own bedrooms. Lisa continues to work for an Omaha podiatrist. She seems to enjoy interacting with the patients and their feet.Vanessa Kramis
also moved recently. She now lives in Panama City, Florida -- a little closer to the territory she covers for GlaxoSmithKline, the giant pharmaceutical firm that makes, among other things, the Advair Diskus inhalers that she details.Matt Burdett is a second year pharmacy student at Creighton University in Omaha. Mom and dad were proud of his 4.0 GPA last semester. For the most part, Matt lives in an apartment near the CU campus but he hangs around the house from time to time (e.g., laundry days). Matt continues to work part time as a lead cashier at the Nebraska Furniture Mart and at a local pharmacy. He enjoys sports, music, and an occasional round of seven-card stud poker.
The
grandkids are doing well. Jayden Watts is a fourth grader at Harvey Oaks School. For fun, she plays baseball, tennis and the viola. Grandma and grandpa enjoy her visits and overnights. Jayson Watts is a healthy three-year old. He enjoys mixing it up with most everyone. He recently got his first pair of boxing gloves. We always know when Jayson is around. In Memoriam
