All the news that’s fit to toot!

Very Early Edition - December 25, 2006 - Volume 14, Issue 1 (Our fourteenth year)

We hope and pray that you all have a blessed Christmas. We will be spending the holidays in Omaha again this year. We don't step out all that often. We didn't even "step out" during September to commemorate our silver wedding anniversary.

We did, however, "Step Out" one Sunday to help others. A contingent from Trinity Church painted, cleaned and otherwise fixed up Ashland Park / Robbins Elementary School. Terry put together some nice gifts for the teachers, while Bob repainted some playground equipment.

Quiz

What did Jayson find most enjoyable about selecting this year's Christmas tree:

  1. the wagon rides,
  2. the invigorating weather,
  3. walking for hours,
  4. hot chocolate afterwards,
  5. "accidentally" prodding grandpa every so often with the measuring pole?

We took a few trips this year: Washington DC and Philadelphia PA in March; Estes Park, CO in August, Boone City, IA in October.

Senator Hagel's (R-Neb) staff kindly arranged for tours of the U.S. Capitol and the Supreme Court Building. We also got to spend some time at the various memorials and at the Smithsonian museums.

Terry Burdett keeps an eye on her Keenagers

Terry continues to work part time at Trinity Church. She still coordinates the church's senior citizen (65+) "Keenager" group. This involves planning a lot of lunches, projects and outings for the group (e.g., IMAX 3-D movies). She also works with the leadership of the church's Deborah groups (ladies ministry). To relax, she crochets, plays computer games, watches CSI, and cheers on the Creighton Bluejay basketball teams.

Bob Bikes, Bibles, and Bangs the Ball

Bob continues to ride his bicycle for exercise. He especially likes the numerous "rails-to-trails" (e.g., Steamboat Trace, Oak Creek) around the area.

He also volunteers from time to time at the Holy Family Shrine. The picture was taken after a summer thunderstorm passed by the chapel one evening. Bob greets and pulls weeds.

Bob is completing the fourth and last year of The Denver Catholic Biblical School (wisdom literature, Jonah, Ester, Daniel, Matthew, Hebrews, the Catholic Epistles and the deuterocanonical books).

People In the News

May 12, 2007 Graduation Looming for Matt Burdett

Matt Burdett is about to start his last semester in the Creighton University pharmacy program. The final semester consists of three five-week clerkships in intensive care, anticoagulation, and oncology.

Matt continues to work at the Nebraska Furniture Mart, a local Baker's pharmacy, and the Creighton Medical Center pharmacy.

In his limited free time, Matt enjoys watching sports (e.g., UNL football), HDTV, and bicycling. Mom and dad enjoyed having him home over the summer -- when he was between apartments.

After weighing several offers, Matt recently accepted an offer from the Kroger/Dillons/Baker's organization to become a pharmacist in one of their Omaha area pharmacies. He is also hoping to continue to work part-time at the Creighton Medical Center pharmacy.

Weddings

Schuster - Fasella

Bob and Terry journeyed to Philadelphia in March to attend the wedding of Dr. Michael Schuster to Miss Elisabetta (Lisa) Fasella.

It was nice to spend the weekend with the couple, Michael's family from Vegas, the Schusters from Canada, and all of Lisa's family that flew into Philadelphia from Rome, Italy. It was also fun to tour many of the area's historic sites.

Bob and Terry's daughter Vanessa Kramis was also able to fly up from Tampa, Florida for the wedding.

It was nice to visit with her and meet her friend Jeff who also flew up for the wedding from Tampa. Vanessa and Jeff are both pharmaceutical representatives for GSK (GlaxoSmithKline).

Stang - Oshima

In August, Bob and Terry attended the wedding of Mr. Steven Stang to Miss Stacey Oshima. It was fun to join the Oshima and Stang clans in Estes Park, Colorado for the wedding. It was also fun to spend some time in Rocky Mountain National Park.

The last wedding of the year occurred in Lincoln during Sept. when Paul Ternes, the son of Duaine and Sylvia Ternes, from Bismarck ND, married Jonie Garwood.

Bob's sister Marianne and his niece Melissa from Las Vegas (pictured at a Keenager outing) also attended that wedding.
