"National Bathroom Reading Week".

Since 1998, National Bathroom Reading Week is held the first week in June. This was started by a gentleman out of New Jersey who felt that America's favorite reading room should be recognized as the foremost seat of learning. No festivals, no gatherings, just a week that allows you to celebrate the fine art of reading in the bathroom. Take a few extra minutes in honor of this week.

"International Volunteer Week"

June 1 - 30 marks International Volunteer Week. Men and women throughout the world are honored for their sacrifice of the time, money and compensation. All non-profit organizations are also recongnized for making this world a better place to live for everyone.

"The First Recorded Earthquake"

On June 1, 1638, the first earthquake ever recorded in the United States was at Plymouth Plantation, Plymouth, Mass. Governor William Bradford described this historic event: "...it was very terrible for ye time; and as ye men were set talk in ye house, some women and others were without ye doors, and ye earth shooke with ye violence as they could not stand without catching hold of ye posts...but ye violence lasted not long. And about halfe an hower, or less, came an other noyse & shaking, but neither so loud nor strong as ye former, but quickly passed over, and so it ceased." For those of you who need a condensed and translated version; "...Major earthquake with sever tremors, yada yada yada...Ye women went back to toil in the fields while ye men had a beer."

"Things to Ponder"

The farmer collects the hen's eggs every morning while she feeds in the yard. Do you think the hen ever gets discouraged because she always finds things missing from where she laid them?

Let's say a fish could be taught to breath air after a period of time and evenually learned to live entirely out of water. If the owner were to walk the fish out onto his dock and the fish fell through the slats back into the lake, would the fish drown?
