YORYIA's TRAVELS IN GREECE

THE VILLAGES of GREECE

THE VILLAGE of STROMI

My father grew up in the village of Stromi. The entrance to this village is very picturesque, a lovely waterfall greeted us as we traveled into Stromi.

When I was very small, I visited there and my mother took my sister and me to a fountain in the town. As you can see on the left, that's me, holding my mom's hand while my sister drank. When it was my turn, I tried but fell in! So, on the right, you'll see that I wanted to prove I was big enough now to drink and not fall in.

I'm too small to drink Now I can do it!

This picture is of the three of us having a nice breakfast on the balcony of an old friend's home in Stromi.

THE VILLAGE of GARGALIANI

My mother grew up in Gargaliani, another small village that we visited during the trip. The picture on the left is a view of the town square and church, and on the right is a beach where we used to swim when I visited as a child.

My Greek relatives have vineyards, as you can see in the landscape shot below. One day, my aunt and I went out into the family vineyards to pick grapes and figs - don't they look yummy?
