June 2001 - a very busy month!
Both Lauren and Katherine had big events
this month - Lauren made her theatrical debut in the Lexington County Arts
Association's presentation of Rogers' and Hammerstein's The King and I.
She made us very proud and held several roles. In the middle of 3
weekends' worth of performances, Katherine quietly turned 1 year old. It's
so hard to believe! I've posted some photos from the different events
here. There's lots to see, so it's slow to load. Sorry!
|
Katherine's first cake had a
Teletubbies theme (much to the horror of the boys!) She had her own
cake to enjoy, and destroy. She couldn't quite figure out how to blow out
the candle though. |

Her present was a ride-on car that has
a handle and play activities. Very cool! It will last her a
long time with all the great features. Toys sure have improved! |
Nana and PopPop AND Grandpa were able
to come on Father's Day, go to Lauren's show, and celebrate Katie's
birthday with us. This is a rare treat, and a day to be
remembered! We had a cook-out and enjoyed a nice dinner at
home. |

Here are some photos of Lauren in the
show. It's hard to see how intricate the costumes were. |
Lauren's roles included a Royal
Princess, the dog in the "Uncle Tom's Cabin" ballet, and an
acrobat in the prince's procession. She loved every minute! |

The cast was excellent, especially
Anna and the King. Everyone was very nice and patient with us "newbies."
This is the "Getting to Know You" scene. |
Here she is during a dress rehearsal
as the dog in "Uncle Tom's Cabin." She's in the back
right, beside the "cabin" - she wore a dog mask in the
play. The girl in front played "Eliza" and was excellent. |

Can you find Lauren? What a
ham!! She was instructed to look at the audience. So were the
others, but they didn't. So she ended up having to change how she
did it :-) |
