"Ace" Bailey: A Class Act

On April 1, 2001, the Seubert Central gang had the opportunity to see, touch, and have a picture taken with the one and only Stanley Cup.  This once-in-a-lifetime event was part of a Boston Bruins "Old Timers" Stanley Cup Champions reunion at the Providence Civic Center. Many Bruins greats including John "Chief" Bucyk, Ken Hodge, Gary Doak, Wayne Cashman, Gerry Cheevers, and Don Marcotte were on hand to play a charity game against the CVS Pharmacy All-Stars.

It was during this event that our lives were touched, if only for a brief moment, by one of the innocent victims of the September 11th tragedy: Garnet "Ace" Bailey, who was part of the Bruins team that day.  "Ace" was the first player to skate over to the glass near where we sat that day, and in response to Alex's frantic waving to the players "Ace" rapped on the glass and smiled right at Alex.  Needless to say, this small act of kindness made Alex feel very special, and we were very grateful to "Ace" for bringing happiness to Alex.

We at Seubert Central would like to express our sadness at the senseless loss of this fine gentleman who unfortunately never knew how thankful we were for the kindness he showed to Alex that day.

Thanks, "Ace".  We'll never forget you.
