Vincent
Vezza1908-1991
The
second branch of Umberto & Anna is Vincent, the first to
be born in the United States, November 23, 1908. He is considered
by family members to be the one who to exhibits the most compassion, the
"sentimental one" as they fondly remember him today. Vincent, or
Jim, as he is referred to by the family, serves in WWII and after a career
in the military will retire as a Lt. Col. Serving in both Iwo Jima
and in europe, it is while in France that he meets a young women, Marie.
After his tour of duty he and Gina, as she is more commonly called, marry
and settle in a home directly across the street from his father in Union
City.
They
will have 3 branches, Vince is the first, Anna and John followed. Shortly after college Vince marries
Maureen and they begin branches of their own. Daughter Jennifer is first, followed a year and a half later by twins Claudia and Colleen. Jennifer recently completed her Masters and is working in the Boston area. Both girls have also completed their college education and are married, Claudia & Alex (1997) are residing in Rhode Island while Colleen and Danh (1998) are establishing their roots in Oregon.
Jim & Gina's daughter Anna, has remained single and is working in "corporate America" since finishing her education.
Her brother, John, likewise is single and is a teacher of special education
in Florida.
On
November 2, 1991, three weeks shy of his 83rd birthday my uncle Jim passed
away leaving us with the fondest of memories of his kindness and caring.
Not surprisingly, all three of Jim and Gina's children
have inherited the same qualities.
