I live in the country near the small town of Dobson, North Carolina. This
is in the foothills in the northwest corner of the state. This is a lovely
part of the country, especially in the fall of the year(See
my photo page). Other cities in the area are Mt. Airy, Elkin, and Pilot
Mountain. Mt. Airy is famous for being the home town of Andy Griffith and
Donna Fargo. Most of the industry is textile related, although there are
other industries in the area. Mt. Airy is also known for the Autumn Leaves
Festival(Shown above), an arts and crafts street show held each October.
Dobson in the county seat, as well as home of Surry Community College,
part of the fine North Carolina community college system. Three state parks(Pilot
Mountain, Hanging Rock, and Stone Mountain) are only a short distance away
and provide excellent recreation opportunities for the family. I have lived
here all of my life and enjoy it immensely. Come visit some time and see
why I like it so much.
