Tracking is a sport where a dog must follow a single person's scent over a long distance. The track layer, usually a club volunteer, walks a path over various types of ground based on the type of the tracking test. The dog must follow this track to where an article belonging to the track layer was dropped. There the dog must clearly indicate the article to the handler.
