* Basils I, II, & III are assumed to be grandfather, father and son but there is no documentary evidence. The fact that both Basil I and Basil II signed their first name with the unusual spelling of 2 ls makes for a close tie and Basil I appears to be the only Poole of the right age in the area. Basil III is presumed to be the son of II since he purchased the tract of land previously mortgaged by Basil II.
