From the Crawn Collection at the Sussex County Library, Branchville, NJ: William KINNEY, son of David Kinney and Mary (Mowry) Kinney, was born at Belvidere, NJ May 1, 1812, and moved to Augusta, Sussex County, NJ, Frankford Township. He later purchased a farm in Sparta Township where he lived until his death in 1854, aged 75 years and his wife died about the same age. William and Mary's children were Jacob, William, Philip, Betsey, Sarah Ann, Fanny, Mary, Ellen, Jemina and Jane. William married Mary DENNIS, dtr of John & Diadema (TINGLEY) Dennis on May 9, 1840. She was born May 20, 1819. Mary Dennis' grandfather was Jesse Dennis who had married for his first wife, a Miss SCHOOLER and for his second marriage to Martha, dtr of George McCOY. Children of John and Diadema (Tingley) Dennis were Joseph, James, Levi, Nathaniel, John, Ezekiel, Jackson, David, Mary and Elizabeth (twins) and Matilda. On page 238 of same book: "Of the children of David Canfield, who married Deborah, a sister of Thomas KINNEY, Samuel is said to have served in the Revolutionary War; Timothy, lived and died near Cranberry Pond, now Silver Lake, NJ; Phebe, married, name unknown, and lived at Hibernia, NJ; Henry, no records; David, married and lived at Franklin, where Joseph Zeek now lives; and Experience, called "Peeney" never married, lived with her brother David. Both are buried at Rockaway, but no records of burial. The Thomas KINNEY mentioned above was born 1731, died 3 Apr 1793, married Elizabeth GORDON, a probable daughter of Joshua, was born 1736, died 23 Apr 1789. His had children baptized at Morristown: John and Jabish, June 22, 1760; Abraham, Sept. 26, 1762."

Sarah DENISON (5) (George 4, Mercy Gorham 3, Desire Howland 2, John 1) was probably born in New London, CT where her birth was recorded 8 Sep 1733, the daughter of George DENISON and his second wife, Joanna HINCKLEY. Sarah died in Preston, now Griswold, CT 1 Mar 1792 aged 58 years, and was buried in the Kinne Cemetery there. Sarah DENISON married in Preston, CT 24 Oct 1748 Ezra KINNE of Preston who was born in Preston 20 Sep 1727, bapt. 26 Nov 1727, son of Joseph and Keziah (PEABODY) KINNE. Ezra KINNE died in Preston (Griswold) 8 Feb 1795 aged 66 years and was buried in the Kinne Cemetery. Capt. Ezra KINNE was a very successful farmer. He and his wife owned the covenant, 22 Apr 1750, at the Second or North Preston Church in what is now Griswold, CT> He served in the French and Indian War and in the Revolution. In his will dated 22 Feb 1794, probated in Norwich, CT 16 Feb 1795, Capt. Ezra KINNE mentions beloved sons Peabody, Denison, and Ezra, along with beloved daughters Joanna, Mary, Jemima, Sarah, Senthe, and Lucretia. Son-in-law Dr. Allen CAMPBELL was an executor, witnesses were Samuel YEOMANS, Seth MORGAN and Alexander STEWART. Children (KINNE), born in Preston, CT: i. Joanna, born 25 June 1749. ii.
