All about me!!

My name is Melissa and this is my story.

This is a 4 generation picture of my family. That adorable little baby is me, I am sitting on my great grandmother's lap, the women to the right is my grandmother and the hippie is my mother.

I grew up in the small town of Brimfield, Massachusetts. The home of the largest outdoor fleamarket and antique show in the world. Brimfield totally transforms from a town of about 3,000 people to a week long traffic jam(That is how us Brimfield people feel about it). It is exciting to see all the tourists, antique hunters and dealers from all around the world all in one place. The fleamarket comes to Brimfield three times per year for one week in May, July and September. When the fleamarket would come to town alot of us kids from town would work at the fleamarket stamping hands upon admission, collecting money, parking cars or cleaning port-a-johns. This is where most of our work expierence came from. At the fleamarket through out the years I have stamped Kenny Rogers hand and served fried dough to Downtown Julie Brown (she used to be on MTV). The fleamarket is visited by many famous people, I think that every Brimfield resident has their story about a brush with a actor, actress or someone else who is or was famous.

I was a teenage mom. I gave birth to my son when I was 18 years old. I worked very hard at balancing a full time job, making ends meet and trying to be a "good" mom. It was very hard and I would like to congratulate any person who raises a child on their own. I had lots of support from my family and had to grow up very quickly(in 9 short months). My son is now 7 1/2 years old and in the second grade. It is amazing how fast they grow. He can get dressed on his own (he has damn good fashion sense), tie his own shoes, fix his own hair and has even learned to read. BooHoo My baby is all Grown up.

My family consists of 3 children. Myself, my older sister Sharon and my younger brother Dustin. Sharon lives in Alaska. That is where she met her husband Leonard. My brother Dustin lives in Westerly, Rhode Island. Dustin is a carpenter. He builds big fancy houses on the beaches of Rhode Island.

This is a picture of my brother Dustin and my son Zachary. It is a little old, but it is a cute picture.

My mother and my Stepfather are high school sweethearts. It is a great story. Take a peek at my mother's webpage to hear all about it yourself. Andrea's Homepage It is full of neat things.

I am a happily married woman now!!! If you click on the link below "Melissa & Wayne's Wedding" you can see all about it.

I work for the New England Job Corps program. The Job Corps is a program for young people ages 16-24. A student goes to Job Corps to learn a trade, obtain their GED or high school diploma, get their drivers license and learn about the work world and how to survive in it. It is a great program. Yes, I am a bit biased but I see the results. Many people find success in this program and it is what makes all of our jobs worth while.

I love music. It is my livelyhood. I am a big fan of country music, but I am a heavy metal head at heart. These are my favorites. Faith Hill, good ole Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, and of course Shania Twain. My heavy metal favorites are Candlebox, White Zombie, Metallica, and Korn. Quite an assortment huh. It is strange but I think that it keeps life interesting.

I have a cat named Flea. Flea is five years old. I think that really she is my son's cat, but I like to claim her for my own. Flea is independently bitchy, as my husband likes to say. She stays home by her self throughout the day while we work and go to school so yes, she is independent.

We are expecting a new baby in the house at the end of December. For the past 8 months, there has been a battle of the sexes going on in my house. Wayne and Zachary are looking for a baby boy and of course, as the only female in the house, I am praying for a little girl. Either way, is fine of course.
