My daddy was Jesse Lee Landes, and his mother was Mary Jane Barbee who married Newton Clark "Doc" Landes, my grandpa. My daddy, Jesse died with a heart attack Oct. 1978. He had started doing a lot of family research just a few years before his death. I took up with all of his material, and research work after his death. I am now working on the Barbee side and could use any information of the early grandparents as far as anyone can go back to.

Filled in a great deal of info on my Matthew and Rebecca since last signing the guestbook. Information came from all Internet sites, court house records, family records, etc. After Matthew's death his family, widow included, moved to Missouri en masse it
eems. Any one know anything about Marion County,TN. cemetaries, expecially near Battle Creek? Good luck to all in your searches. Dave-B

Been able to trace my Barbees from Missouri back to Tennesse even though a whole generation of children were scattered among non-Barbee family members due to the Civil War. Sites like yours have helped gather some of them up, but the search goes on. Any o
e know of the Marion County, TN Barbees? Need information on Matthew and Rebecca to continue my search back through time. None of the William, Andrew, etc. connections work for Matthew.

I'm searching for ancestors of Edward Barbee (with wife Elizabeth), born around the 1830's in Virginia. In 1862 they were living in Missing
Ford, Virginia, which could possibly be Mossing Ford in Charlotte County, Virginia. By the middle 1860's they moved to Hopkinsville,Kentucky which is in Christian County. This is about 30 miles north of Clarksville, Tennessee which is in Montgomery county
Edward and Elizabeth Barbee had at least three children:
1) Lee J. Barbee 1862-1934 who lived his life in Bluefield, VA.
2) W.W. Barbee who lived his life in Oak Grove, KY which is on the TN/KY line between Hopkinsville, KY and Clarksville, TN.
3) Florence Barbee, who married a Mr. Wooten and lived her life in San Antonio, TX.
Would love to communicate with folks who connect to this family.

I started my research over my maternity leave as something to give my son when he gets older. Needless to say this has turned into a never ending hobby and I have learned so much about our family andthe people who made me what I am today. This has been
wonderful journey into the history of our family and our country. I look forward to the years to come and to meeting even more cousins.
