| About NCFOM
NCFOM was formed in 1997 to promote the safety and advantages of midwifery to the public. This became necessary because of a law passed in 1983 that criminalized the safest form of birth for most women. We are a statewide network that advocates the right of women to choose where they give birth and who will attend. While home birth itself isn't illegal, inviting a skilled midwife puts her at legal risk.
