The best-tasting fries: Burger King
Methodology:
This test was done at work on a Friday afternoon. Nick, Mike and I each
went to purchase fries from a nearby Burger King, McDonald's, and Wendy's.
Each was brought back to work in a timely manner, and all were relatively
warm when they were tasted. The fries were dumped into three identical
unmarked containers, and eight of us gave our feedback. Each person
whispered their rank preference to the one recording the results, so no
one would be swayed by the opinion of the others.

This was kind of a surprise to me. Everyone chose Burger King over McDonald's and Wendy's. I had read that Buger King's new fries are consumer-preferred, and this certainly supports that. I noticed that McDonald's fries containers have the claim "America's favorite fries" with an asterisk that reads: "based on sales." This suggests to me that McDonald's has done its own blind taste test, and got the same results that we did. Mike said that the Burger King fries tasted saltier, and that is why everyone liked them. Melissa thought Burger King fries had a better taste, while McDonald's was kind of crunchy and burnt. She kind of liked that about McDonald's though. Val referred to the McDonald's fries as "leathery." Some people thought the Burger King fries looked too light, like they weren't fully cooked, but they were quite crispy.
