Simple "How-To's" of Saving Money Everyday
(1) Don't buy your lunch everyday, brown bag.
(Savings approximately $100 per month.)
(2) Check your policy on car insurance. Get at least three other bids.
(Savings approximately $100 - $500 per year.)
(3) Buy store brands (Thrifty Maid, Food Lion, etc.). Most store brands offer 100% refund if not pleased.
(Savings approximately 10% - 20% per purchase.)
(4) Check gas prices at the pump.
(Savings .01 - .09 per gallon.)
(5) Limit eating out and pizza deliveries.
(Savings approximately $50 - $75 per month.)
(6) Check with mortgage company and see if it will save you money to refinance.
(Refinance only the amount owed for the same or less time.)
(7) Check your deductions on your tax return.
At work, claim zero deductions plus
an extra ten dollars a week. Use your tax return
to pay off high interest credit cards.
(8) Make one extra payment on your mortgage every year.
This will result in years off your payments and save thousands of dollars.
(9) Keep a record of how much money you spend and what
you spend it on. Do this for one week.
You will be amazed where you money goes
(chips, sodas, candy, gum, "supersize", etc.)
(10) Check with consumer guides and repairmen before
making a major purchase such as a washer/dryer,
automobile, television, etc.
(11) Don't buy "new" cars. A "used" one-year-old car
with less than 20,000 miles will save you thousands of dollars.
(12) Don't buy novels, go to the library and get them for free! (Approximate savings of $15 - $25.)
(13) Limit going to the movies. Rent videos instead. (Approximately savings of $20.)
(14) Make a list of items needed before you go to
the grocery store. Never shop on an empty stomach.
(Use the "look" up and down principle" and check "cost per" information.)
