I am a hard working wife and SAH (stay at home)mama
of 4 wonderful children.
C.J. my 18 year old (unofficial diagnosed)FAE(step)daughter.
B.J. my 8 year old son.
S.D. my 4 year old FAS ( hopefully soon to be adopted) son.
Oh and please help us welcome our latest little miracle to our family,
our son "Caleb". Born 7 weeks preterm but growing along well.
He is now 4 months old!
Then we also have here 2 cats and a big tank full of fish.
Plus there is the gardening/landscaping of the acre and half yard,
(which needs a lot done to it, it is pretty bare right now )
Oh and we can't forget that great guy that puts up with all of us!
My childhood sweetheart, best friend and hubby Dale.
He and I have been together for almost 18 years now,
and I have been in love with him since the very first day we met.
Some 23 years ago now.
When I am not tending to the various needs, wants and demands
of the kids, critters, yard and hubby.
I like to try to steal a few moments away for the puter
(and the laundry, paying bills, paperwork *LOL*
you know how it is, a mothers job is never done! ).
Usually it the wee hours of the night/morning.
But anyways I spend that time on here.
Mostly doing research on FAS,Adoption and Infertility.
You can usually find me floating somewhere around Parent Soup,
or finding interesting things for the kids to do.
I am also trying to get a business started in Web Page designing too.
(Know anyone looking for a designer?)
ParentSoup is a wonderful site for every kind of parenting, family and
life issues imaginable.
I enjoy participate in the discussion groups and chats there.
Stop in and check it all out sometime,
you are sure to find something of interest or amusement.
I like chatting and keeping in touch with all my friends on ICQ too.
When I am not busy with all these things (and they do keep me busy!!).
Here are a few things I like to do to actually help me relax.
I love to curl up with a good book to read,
but gee can't remember the last one I got to read completely!
Besides Pooh or Dr. Suess LOL.
My favorite authors
(aside from the reading of childrens books to the kids that is)
are Stephen King, Anne Rice and V.C.Andrews.
I also enjoy listening to music.
Oh and so do the kids, you should see us all
dancing around here falling all over each other laughing till we burst!!
I enjoy a wide variety and it really just
depends on my mood as to what you will catch me listenin to.
Writing poetry, or "letters" to express things.
But I must say my very favorite thing to do to "relax" is....
Sneaking off and locking myself in my bathroom to unwind
in a nice hot bubble bath by candle light and music.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!"
But if you are a parent,
(especially of a child or two with FAS)
you know that doesn't last long or happen very often!
*Smile*
Lounging in the living room this evening with my son lofting on the loveseat.
I heard him ask a question that made me wonder where this conversation was gonna go.
I would like to share with you a peak into my sons thoughts and heart.
What follows is our conversation that brought me to tears
and also made me wonder once again about many things!
"Mom is God bigger?"
"Bigger then what dear?"
"Just listen a minute mom you don't understand what I am saying.
"Is God bigger? When Madeline and Joel were here,
we watched VeggieTales and the littlest veggie said "God is bigger" "Is He?"
"Do you mean is He bigger then us?"
"Yes, is He bigger?"
"Yes he is dear, why do you ask?"
"Well I am gonna do Gods work mom."
"You are?"
"Yes I am gonna help Him!"
"How are you gonna do Gods work son?"
"I am not gonna do it in the sky mom, I am gonna do it here."
"You mean you are gonna do Gods work here on earth?"
"Yes!"
"How are you gonna do His work here on earth?"
"Well I talk to God and he tells me what to do, how to help Him with His work."
"Oh you talk to Him?"
"Yes, and I want to keep helping him with his work."
"Keep helping him? What do you mean by that dear?"
"I helped God with his work while I was an angel in Heaven.
You know before he sent me here to you and daddy."
"Oh and you remember being an angel and helping God?"
"Yeah a little bit, but I don't remember as much as I used to though."
"So if you remember helping God when you were his angel,
why do you ask if he is bigger? Was he big to you then?"
"No he was just there, ya know normal like.
But here He just seems so much more to people."
"Well son I think what you mean here is called our Faith.
When we have faith in God and let him lead our lives, he does seem or is "bigger" then us.
Do you understand that?"
"Yes I think so mom, I just wanted to know if He is "bigger" to you."
He did not give me the chance to answer this last statement of his,
he said it and then kissed me goodnight and went to bed.
I tell you he left me stunned and to be honest a bit confused.
This was last night (9/9/00) and was a chat between me, Teddi and my 5 year old son.
