Casteel, Alexander CC 236, filed 18 April 1870. Alexander CASTEEL of McMinn Co. died about 1867 leaving children Joseph, Madison, Sarah wife of Lewis ERWIN, Amanda M. wife of James G. RICKS, Paralee R. wife of Christopher C. RICKS, and Elizabeth wife of James BROWN of Ill.

Madison CASTEEL & others v. Sterling P. CAMP & others. CC 236, filed 18 April 1870. Alexander CASTEEL died intestate [leaving no will] in McMinn Co. about three years ago leaving children Madison, Joseph, Sarah wife of Lewis Erwin, Amanda M. wife of James G. RICKS, Parolee R. wife of Christopher C. RICKS, and Elizabeth wife of James BROWN, the latter of Ill. About forty years ago Alexander CASTEEL and John CAMP now deceased purchased jointly land about three miles SW of Athens. Camp took title in his name but the land was divided and CASTEEL held his portion for more than thirty years and Joseph CASTEEL has held it since. John CAMP died intestate about thirty years since without ever conveying land to Casteel, and leaving Sterling P. [Camp] now of Ill., T. J. [Camp], J. B. [Camp], Mary A. wife of James M. KNOX, C. T. wife of Dr. W. P. CALDWELL, M. J. wife of Alfred or George P (both names given) BILLINGSLEY, all of Bradley Co., as his only heirs and they all disclaim any title to land. Petition to give title to CASTEELS and to sell land for partition. Joseph CASTEEL is high bidder.

Elizabeth RICKS v. I. W. RICKS, CC 1367, filed 7 Sep 1894. Petition for divorce, not granted and she appeals to Tennessee Supreme Court, and then dismisses bill. Married in McMinn Co. on 4 May 1893; a child named Clide born 7 June 1894; she charges cruelty and she had to remove to home of her father, John Orten.
