This is a great place for older kids, they can climb on rocks and crawl through small caves. It is hard for small children but the older more adventurous children will love it! I suggest you bring a flashlight and wear long pants. It is a half mile long chasm and 60 feet deep in parts. If you kids like to climb on the big rocks wherever they go this is the place for them, believe me you will climb over, under and around huge rocks! You can watch climbers climb the walls but do not let the kids do this as you need a permit to do any "real" rock climbing.
You can bring a picnic lunch also, there are picnic tables.
There are other trails as well that do not involve as much climbing.
Directions: I-93 South to Route 128 North, to 24 South to Route 79 (exit 7) to Davol Street at sign for cove. It is a very easy, there are plenty of signs.
This is a great place for children to explore real a real battleship, the USS Massachusetts. It was a World War II battleship that you can explore. The kids can turn the guns on deck and pretend to be in battle, see where over 2,000 men slept and ate, see the dentist office, a museum on board also about WWII ships and such. There is also a submarine, and two other ships to explore. This is an all day trip.
There is a snack bar on the battleship that serves lunch. There is a
