Loogootee - The remains of Michael Dunn, an aged resident of Van Buren township were laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery Sunday afternoon. Since the death of his wife some time ago, he had been spending his time with his neighbors west of St. Joseph's church. At the time he became sick, he was at the home of James Crane, east Van Buren, and a message was sent to his son at Bedford who hurried to him, finding his father somewhat better he took him to Bedford where he could care for him. However, he gradually grew worse until death, which claimed him Saturday morning. The funeral cortege passed through this city about 1:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon.

James Dunn Dead

Loogootee Tribune: James Dunn, for many years one of the leading farmers of the St. Mary's community, northwest from here, died suddenly at his home on north Oak Street in this city last Sunday evening. Mr. Dunn had been a sufferer of heart trouble for many years but his condition was not thought to be of a serious nature. Sunday evening while sitting on the porch of the home talking to his brother in law, James Bradley, he suddenly became ill and complained of being excessively warm. These were the last words he spoke, and while those at the house came to his aid, he died before a physician could arrive. He was about during the day and attended church services in the forenoon and appeared as well as usual. Mr. and Mrs. Dunn came to Loogootee last September and moved to the home on North Oak Street where they have lived since. He was born in Daviess County, January 13, 1856, being at the time of his death in his sixty-sixth year. His father was the late James Dunn Sr.(?). He spent practically all his life in Barr township, where until the family moved to town he was one of the leading and progressive farmers. He married Mary Bradley in 1886, who with a sister and three brothers survive him. They had no children. The sister is Mrs. Margaret Gill of Linton, the the brothers William dunn of Indianapolis, John Dunn of Vincennes, and Michael Dunn of north of town. The funeral services were held on Tuesday morning from St. Marys Catholic church north of town and the body was buried there. The Rev. Joseph Clancy, the pastor, was in charge of the services. Mr. Dunn's death came as a great shock to his many friends who will regret to know of his passing.

Loogootee Death Record: James Dunn born 13 Feb 1856, died 26 June 1921. Son of Thomas Dunn and Mary A. Ryan. Birthdate in DR and obit differ. The obit gives his father as James; however, his death record and marriage give father as Thomas.

Illness Fatal to Mary Dunn.

The body of Mrs. Mary Dunn, aged 70 years, who died at the home of the Little Sisters of the Poor at Indianapolis Sunday night was brought to Loogootee on train #21 Tuesday afternoon, and taken to the home of her brother, Thomas Bradley on Queen Street, Loogootee. Mary Bradley Dunn was born in Daviess County March 21, 1858, the daughter of James and Mary Ann Winstandley Bradley, and would have been 70 years old had she lived until next Wednesday. On November 9, 1886, whe was married to James Dunn in the old St. Mary's church in Daviess County. They had no children, but adopted and reared to manhood Ed Garrity of Indianapolis, who survives her. The deceased woman spent the greater part of her life in Daviess county coming to Loogootee with her husband to make her home almost ten years ago. Mr. Dunn died June 26, 1921. After the death of her husband she made her home with her brother and sister, Thomas and Katie Bradley, for four years. Almost two years ago, when her health began to fail, she went to Indianaoplis and entered the home for aged people conducted by the Little Sisters of the Poor, where death came to her at ten o'clock Sunday night. She had been in failing health for two years and was seriously ill for several months. Mrs. Dunn was known as a good christian woman and a kind friend by all who knew her. Always a devout Catholic, her desire to attend church led her to enter the home where she attended church daily. She leaves two brothers, Peter J. of Daviess county and Thomas Bradley of this city, and one sister, Miss Katie Bradley of this city to mourn her passing. Funeral services with a solemn high Mass were held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic church in Daviess county and burial was made by the side of her husband in the adjoining cemetery. Notes for MARGARET ANN WALKER:

Records of St Mary Cemetery Daviess County, Indiana:

Dunn, William F. 1873-1959.

Dunn, Margaret A. 1873-1928. Wife of William F.

Washington Democrat, March 26, 1928.

Mrs. Margaret Ann Dunn, aged 54 years, 6 months and 27 days, wife of Wm. Francis Dunn, resident at 1702 South L Street, passed away shortly before 7 o'clock Sunday evening at St. Joseph's Infirmary at Louisville, Kentucky, where she was taken a week ago today for treatment of erysipelas of the right leg, says the Bedford Democrat. Her illness developed about two weeks ago and when she failed to respond satisfactorily to medical treatment offered here , she was taken to Louisville where a specialist attended her. Blood poisoning was found to have developed on her arrival at the Louisville Infirmary and despite the fact that everything known to medical science was done to save her life, all efforts proved fruitless. Margaret Ann Walker was born in Daviess County on August 18, 1873, and was the only child to bless the union of George W. and Julia Ann Walker. After being reared to young womanhood there she was united in marriage on May 24, 1898, to William Francis Dunn and to their union eleven children were born, two of whom have preceded the mother to the grave. The surviving children are Edna, Afra, Inez, Delphia, Cleophas, Mary, Everett, Alvin, and Bernard, all at home. She was a devout member of the Catholic church throughout her life. Mrs. Dunn's condition was recognized as fatal Saturday night and her physician so informed the husband, who had been with her since she was taken to the Kentucky institution. He immediately summoned the children to her bedside and all went down Saturday immediately after the message was received. They remained until Sunday forenoon when all, except Afra, returned home, she remaining with her father. Mrs. Dunn's condition on the hour of their departure showed little change over that recorded on Saturday when the children were summoned and it was thought she might survive several days. Returning here about noon Sunday, the children later learned about 6 o'clock Sunday evening that their mother's condition was unchanged, but about an hour later the death message arrived. The remains were brought to Daviess county Tuesday afternoon and funeral services will be conducted from St. Mary's Catholic Church near Loogootee, but the definite date and time has not been arranged. Interment will follow in St. Mary's cemetery.
