Early Virginia Immigrants 1623-1666, by George Cabell Greer (Genealogical Publ, 1912, 1989), p 282. Stephen Robinson was transported to Virginia's Lower Norfolk Co, Paggetts Neck in 1648 by Thomas Lambert.

Cavaliers and Pioneers, Abstracts of Virginia Patents and Grants 1623-1666, by Nell Marion Nugent, p173. Thomas Lambert given 750 acres in Lower Norfolk Co, VA on 1 June 1648 for arranging transport of 15 persons from England to VA. Stephen Robinson is listed as one of the immigrants that came with Lambert.

Mabel Robinson gives the following information. Lambert and Robinson were related by marriage. Robinson had worked for the King in England. Cromwell replaced the King. Political and economic unrest followed. Emigration to the colonies increased in the 1640s. According to a book in Lloyd House in Alexandria, William Betts gave his son-in-law, Stephen Robinson Jr, a cow and a calf in 1656.

Notes for STEPHEN ROBINSON:

On page 451 of "Virginia Colonial Abstracts Volume 1, 1661 to 1810" by

Beverly Fleet, there is a sentence in the "Northumberland County Record of

Births" that lists the births of "Elinor Robeson, daughter to Stephen Robeson, May 7, 1692, "Henry Robeson, son to Steven "DO" (Robeson) on February 14, 1681" and "Susana Robeson daugr to Steven "DO" (Robeson) November 11, 1679". Since official spelling at that time had not yet arrived, Robinson was variously written/accepted as Robson, Robeson, Robison, Robson or Robuson - even during the period of the War of Northern Aggression.

3. HENRY3 ROBINSON (STEPHEN2, STEPHEN1) was born February 14, 1680/81 in Northumberland County, Virginia, and died 1753 in Stafford County, Virginia. He married (1) MARY MUTTON December 04, 1711 in Northumberland County, Virginia. She was born Abt. 1686, and died March 26, 1748 in Stafford County, Virginia. He married (2) WINIFRED BAILIS August 01, 1750 in Stafford County, Virginia. She was born Abt. 1730.

1-Henry Robinson died testate in Stafford Co. in 1753. He married first Mary (surname unknown) who died march 26, 1748, and secondly on Aug. 1, 1750, Winifred Bailis who survived him. By his first wife he had two sons mentioned in his will, viz: Christopher Robinson who appears in the Register of Overwharton Parish and (2) Benjamin (17??-1785). The latter was married twice: first to Catherine (surname unknown) who died June 19, 1744 and secondly to Sarah Stacy on Jan 2, 1750. Benjamin Robinson died testate in Fauquier County, Virginian, in 1785, he left a large family.

Footnote (p112)

1-Henry Robinson, mentioned in footnote on page 102, by his last will and testament of 1753 mentioned James Spreybra, son of John Spreybra, James Spreybra (Sprayburry) was probably a grandson of the testator. The evidence is strong that Henry Robinson had more children than the two sons mentioned in his last will and testament which is of record at Stafford court.

In Name of God Amen I Henry Robinson of County Stafford and Parish of Overwharton being sick, of perfect & sound Judgm't...Imprimis. I give to Winefred my loving Wife my land joining to Jacksons at the Lower End both sides of the run on the South side as far as the bank of the Hill inclosing that part of the Low grounds & thence crossing the run to her own side where my Son Christopher and I joins fencing then running joining to the run & running between the Orchard and Christopher's house to the spring & up the spring run to the upper end of the line Inclosing all the ground on the North of the run in the bounds to me belonging for & during her Natural life. Item after death of my wife above mentioned this her part of the land to fall to John Robinson son of my son Benjamin to be his. Item I give to Christopher my Eldest son he and his Wife Elander their natural lives only in the other part of my land on the South side of the run. Item after their Death I give the whole plantation & land thereto belonging to John Robinson as above mentioned.
