Projects in Progress:
1) Oral histories -interviewing and taping older resident and getting their biographies and memories of early times.
2) Organizing a junior membership -giving presentations of Perry County history to classes in the county's secondary schools and working with the history teachers who are required to teach Arkansas History.
3) Having an ancestor fair as a means of gathering and copying old photos, news clippings, Bible records, biographies, etc.
4) Copying marriages from courthouse record books for publication. (A member has already begun this project)
5) Compiling a surname list to place in library genealogy room for use in family research.
6) Volunteer work at library rewinding census microfilm.
7) Long range goal - publish
a history of Perry County.
Our long range goal is to
publish a large volume of Perry County history containing biographies,
photo, stories, etc. The present project is a book with just pedigree
charts. Joyce Hill, Rt. 1, Box 223-K, Perryville, AR 72126 is chairperson
for this project . Charts need to be snail mailed to her or they
can be emailed to me. Thanks, Jackie <paljac@arbbs.net
