1 1/2 16 oz. cans vanilla frosting
Brown food coloring paste
Yellow food coloring paste
3/4 c. canned chocolate frosting
24 orange-flavored Starburst candies
12 leaf-shaped spearmint gumdrops
3 lg. red gumdrops
4 lg. white gumdrops
6 green lime-flavored fruit slice jelly candies
1 4.24 oz. tube red decorating icing
1 4.24 oz. tube yellow decorating icing
1 tbs. sesame seeds
Preheat oven according to poundcake mix package directions. Butter and flour 1 (8") round and 1 (9") round cake pan and 1 (2 qt.) ovenproof bowl, 8" in diameter. Prepare poundcake mixes together according to package directions. Pour 1 3/4 cups batter into each cake pan; pour remaining batter into bowl. Bake 8" cake 25 min., 9" cake 20 min., and bowl cake 1 hour or until toothpick inserted into centers comes out clean. Cool in pans on racks 10 min. Remove from pan; cool completely on racks. In bowl tint vanilla frosting light brown with brown and yellow food colouring.
Assembly
1) For bun bottom, using serrated knife trim wide end of bowl cake to level, reserving scrap; set aside bowl cake. With small amount of tinted frosting attach cake scrap, cut side up, to paper plate or serving platter; spread cut side with more tinted frosting. Top with 8" cake; spread top and sides with 3/4 cup remaining tinted frosting.
2) For hamburger patty, spread top and sides of 9" cake with chocolate frosting; center cake on top of bun bottom. Lightly press all around sides of cake with folded paper towel, pulling towel straight out to create rough edge of burger.
3) For cheese, arrange fruit chews (Starburst candy) in single layer on microwavable plate; microwave on High 10-15 seconds or until slightly softened. With hands press and flatten chews together to form 9" square. Place on top of hamburger patty. On work surface sprinkled with granulated sugar roll out 6 leaf-shaped gumdrops to 1/8" thickness to form 1 large lettuce leaf; repeat rolling with 6 more gumdrops to form another leaf. Arrange over cheese near edges of burger. For tomatoes, roll out red gumdrops individually to 1/8" thickness; arrange over lettuce around burger edges. For onion rings, roll out white gumdrops to 1/8" thickness. With round cookie cutters or sharp knife cut out circles (to look like onion rings); cut 1/4" rings from circles with smaller cutters. Reroll scraps to make additional rings; arrange rings over tomatoes. Arrange fruit-slice candies over onions for pickles. Pipe read and yellow icing around edges of burger for ketchup and mustard.
4) For bun top, invert firm paper plate onto work surface; center reserved bowl cake, trimmed side down, on top. Starting from top, spread remaining tinted frosting in lines down sides of cake, turning plate after each section. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. With spatula lift bun, place over burger.
