Hospice exists in every little town around the country, and the need for volunteers is overwhelming. There are never enough people willing to donate their time. There are always ways to volunteer that don't involve physical contact with terminally-ill patients. There is always office work to be done, and charity events in which to participate. There are even people who fix a meal to be delivered to someone or offer taxi services to family members without wheels. There's always something you can do, and if you take the time to become involved, you will find that you are the one reaping the benefits, as much or more than the people you are helping.
